Meet the MOWB Gals

Fawn Rechkemmer

  • Born: Bowling Greene, Kentucky, but I didn’t stay there very long!
  • Raised: All over the midwest – but mostly in Missouri.  As I child, I lived in the towns of Branson, Forsyth, Ridgedale, Steelville, and Bourbon. I attended college in Columbia (MU) and Springfield (MSU).
  • Lineage: I’m a mutt, known for being a “cool cucumber” and an “independent thinker” as well as semi-introverted (INTJ). I have my dad’s dry sense of humor and my mom’s unending will to help others.
  • Educated: I have a BS and an MA from Missouri State University in Professional Communication and Writing.fawn
  • Hubs: He’s the best baby-daddy ever, and also a really great children’s dentist. He has his own practice in Springfield that I get to do PR work for.
  • Responsible for: Lots of stuff. Too much stuff, really.  But first and foremost, I’m a mom.  That includes the usual care and feeding, plus I’m the volunteer coordinator for our school’s PTA.  Here at MOWB, I’m using my previous experience as editor for ARWB to help grow our community!
  • Day job: Freelance Writer, Editor, PR, Social Media stuff.  It’s so fun!
  • Blog(s): Instead of the Dishes – I write about what I need to do, what I want to do, and how I get both done.
  • Other passions: I love to travel and learn new things.  I also try to fit in running, swimming, and biking here and there, and at least one triathlon or other type of race per year. I like to listen to audio books too.
  • Favorite author/books: I really like audio books that are read by the author.  I loved A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki, The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Neffenegger, and anything by Dr. Seuss.
  • Favorite blogs: I don’t have one.  I’m a blog flitterer.  I love visiting new and different blogs and seeing what that blogger is doing with their online space. I’ve been having tons of fun “meeting” so many Missouri bloggers through their blogs lately.
  • Dream vacation: Anything with a beach is fabulous.  Would love to spend the summer in Europe or explore South America (the safe parts, anyway).
  • On the Twitter: @FawnRech
  • Where else to find her: At the elementary school, soccer field, gymnastics gym, horse arena, farmer’s market.  I also would like to meet you on Pinterest and Instagram!
  • What to contact her about: PR opportunities, ideas for your company or brand to collaborate with MOWB, product offerings for our member bloggers, event partnerships, creative ideas and thoughts on how to build the MOWB community, and just to say hi.

I could so live in StL if they would get sweet tea. Thank goodness SW MO knows what that is or I’d be lost!

I’m a Mo-Kan! I have four blogs that keep me busy, just joined Pinterest, my sisters and mother ganged up on me and twisted my arm to join Facebook, but don’t go there much. I like tea too and just wrote an article on Tea on my Gratitude Journal blog. I also wrote a short bio on Laura Ingalls Wilder on my History Nut blog. My hubbin’s family has been in Missouri for 150 years, hence our family history blog and I also like crafts, mostly paper arts! My hubbin and I met on a blind date! A girlfriend from Arkansas sent me this blogging site, so have been looking round.

Nice to meet you!

Shana, I love writing myself. I knew one day I would do SOMETHING that would lead me back to writing. And a lot of teachers/ professors have always told me to go into the field of writing. I went off and got my teaching degree, but wish I would’ve minored in English or creative writing. JUST TO SAY I DID IT! 😉 Maybe one day!

Hello!

We’re in the SW MO area, but are in St Louis quite often. There are so many great (fun) and free things to do in St Louis with kids. Love the Magic House, Science Center, Grant’s Farm etc!
