Mother’s Day is almost here. It’s time to celebrate that special woman that raised you and taught you to be the person you are. Many times, Mom gets the short end of the stick. Our Mothers are the glue that keeps everyone together. Everyone else comes first in the family. A Mother’s love is instinctual, unconditional, and forever. These are just a few of the many reasons to celebrate your Mom!
As Mother’s Day approaches, we often hear about the many gift ideas for Mom. The ads are filled with special discounts and offers. Our promotional emails remind us what we can buy for Mom on Mother’s Day. However, I’m going to suggest you don’t buy anything for your Mom on this special day.
Yes, that’s right…no flowers, no jewelry, no furniture, or kitchen gadgets. Don’t get me wrong…I love those things.
On this Mother’s Day, give your Mom the gift of some quality time together. It doesn’t cost anything. I’ve been lucky enough to be spoiled for the past five years on Mother’s Day by my husband and three kids (most credit going to my hubby). My family treats me to a wonderful home cooked meal that I don’t have to prepare, cook, or get involved in. My family lets me do whatever I want for my special day. Seriously, the past five years I have felt almost guilty just relaxing on my patio lounger, reading, and soaking in some Vitamin D all while the kids are busy bringing me drinks and getting ready for a big meal. After doing this at home, I have realized that quality time together is what is most important. Cooking and enjoying a meal together may seem old fashioned to some, but for us it’s about spending quality time together.
Whether you are a brunch or dinner fan, The St. Louis Cooks have a ton of great meal options for you on Mother’s Day.
First, I want to share two brunch dish ideas that are easy and can be made ahead of time.
And for dinner, I have two great recipes to share.
On Mother’s Day, get in the kitchen, have some fun, cook Mom a great meal, and spend some quality time together! As we say at The St. Louis Cooks, a family that cooks together stays together!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there!
